Mauvaise nouvelle pour le peuple ivoirien. Le président du Parti Démocratique de Côte d'Ivoire (PDCI), Henri Konan Bédié est mort ce mardi 1er août 2023. Selon plusieurs médias ivoiriens, il est décédé après avoir été évacué d'urgence ce mardi 1er août 2023, de Daoukro à Abidjan, aux environs de 18 heures.
Le mal dont souffre " le Sphinx de Daoukro " n'a pas été révélé. Cependant, à en croire une source, la situation aurait été critique. Un hélicoptère a été dépêché pour évacuer le leader du Pdci, âgé de 89 ans, sur Abidjan. Par la suite, il est décédé.
Surnommé le sphinx de Daoukro, c'est un monument de la politique ivoirienne qui disparaît. À 89 ans, il a tout fait, tout connu. Ambassadeur aux États-Unis dans les années 1960, il sera ensuite ministre de l’Économie et des Finances de Félix Houphouët-Boigny, avant de devenir président de l’Assemblée nationale, puis chef de l’État à la mort du « Vieux » en 1997.
Henri Konan Bédié ne durera pas au plus haut sommet de l’État. En 1999, il est renversé par un putsch mené par le général Robert Gueï. Cet épisode marquera à jamais sa conception de la politique.
Cet amateur de cigares, avare en mots, n’aura depuis pas cessé de vouloir récupérer ce pouvoir perdu, pour lui mais aussi pour sa formation, le Parti démocratique de Côte d’Ivoire (PDCI), dont il présidait aux destinées depuis 1994.
